Meet our Founder
Pamela Hughes

Pamela Hughes is the founder and director of Take2 Performing Arts School, which she established in Foxrock, Dublin, in 1988. With a lifelong passion for the performing arts, Pamela has dedicated her career to nurturing young talent and providing exceptional performing arts education.

Pamela holds multiple prestigious qualifications, including:

  • M.A. in Dramatherapy (First Class Honours)

  • F.I.B.S.D. (Fellow of the Irish Board of Speech & Drama)

  • L.I.B.S.D. (First Class Honours) (Licentiate of the Irish Board of Speech & Drama)

Pamela’s journey in the performing arts began at the young age of three, leading her to study at the Royal Irish Academy of Music & Drama under the renowned actress Aileen Harte. She later earned her diploma from the London College of Music in 1988 and was part of the inaugural class at the Gaiety School of Acting, studying under acclaimed director Joe Dowling and actor Pat Laffan. She also achieved multiple Licentiate and Fellowship diplomas in teaching from the Irish Board of Speech & Drama and the Leinster School of Music & Drama.

As an actress, Pamela was a member of Irish Actors’ Equity and performed on both stage and screen. She also worked in the theatre industry as a make-up artist at the Olympia, Gaiety, and Abbey Theatre.

Pamela has played a key role in advancing performing arts education in Ireland. She served on the board of the Speech & Drama Teachers of Ireland Association for five years and was the inaugural Chairperson of PAEI (Performing Arts Educators of Ireland), an advocacy and support group for performing arts educators. She is also a senior examiner for the Irish Board of Speech & Drama and regularly adjudicates at Drama & Musical Theatre festivals across Ireland.

In 2018, Pamela earned a Master’s in Dramatherapy with First Class Honours from NUI Maynooth, becoming a Creative Arts Therapist specialising in children, teenagers, and young adults. As a trained Dramatherapist, she brings a unique perspective to her teaching, offering deeper insight, empathy, and understanding to her students.

With over 35 years of experience, Pamela continues to lead Take2 Performing Arts School with the same passion and dedication that inspired her to start it. Under her guidance, the school has grown into a trusted and beloved institution, helping young performers develop their confidence, skills, and love for the arts.
